46th Regus London Film Festival kicks off in style

Another night, another premiere for your hardworking Empire Online team. But this was one glitzy shebang with a difference. The international top-class cast of Brit director Stephen Frears' new thriller, Dirty Pretty Things arrived in Leicester Square last night not only to support their fantastic new picture but to kick off the 46th Regus London Film Festival in style. And, bizarrely enough, a member of the Comedy Taliban was on hand too. With added help from an Osama bin Laden in drag who leapfrogged the barriers to be promptly sat upon by security guards, Amelie herself, the delightful Audrey Tatou, young Brit actor Chiwetel Ejiofor and Dangerous Liaisons and High Fidelity director Stephen Frears appeared to wow the crowds and welcome another smorgasbord of cinematic treasures to our nation's capital. Frears enthused "It's terrific. I'm thrilled to be kicking it all off" and told Empire Online why we should see his thriller based in the twilight world of London's illegal immigrants, "It's a really good story and that's what I liked about it. And I liked the fact that in the end the immigrants win. I like that sort of stuff. I like the popular forms of cinema and film stars." The teeny Tatou was as swept away by the occasion, swamping her director with effusive compliments in a thick French accent, " It was so amazing. He's so talented and has such wise eyes. He's so attentive because he knew it was very hard for many people in the film
