Just how exactly to you turn a tell-all book about the crazy indie film kids and Miramax films into a comedy?

Director Ken Bowser and writer Dean Craig are going to give it a try – they’ve just snagged the rights to Peter Biskind’s Down And Dirty Pictures. The 2004 book tracks the rise of Tarantino, Steven Soderbergh and others while also dishing the dirt on the tactics of Harvey Weinstein and the Miramax team. It won't be Bowser's first experience with Biskind's work - he directed the Easy Riders documentary taken from the author's earlier tome.

"Down And Dirty Pictures was so obviously a movie that I was a little amazed when we managed to snatch up the rights before the studios moved in," Bowser told Variety. "You couldn't make these guys up. They're like offensive linemen rampaging across the fields of Sundance sacking anyone who gets in their way, while the handsome movie star owner of the stadium smiles benevolently down on his charges. If that's not a movie, I don't know what is."

Indie company Palm-Star Entertainment are stumping up the development funds, but there’s no cast attached yet. Shockingly, Harvey hasn’t responded with a comment. Bet he’s not happy, though…
