Jennifer Grey

Dirty Dancing is one of those movies that became an unexpected hit, grabbing a loyal core viewership across at least two generations. Now there's chatter about a second potential follow-up (after 2004's less-than-fulfilling sequel Havana Nights), with Deadline reporting that the star of the 1987 original, Jennifer Grey, is attached to produce and star in a new dancing film set in the 1990s.

Now, before fans of the original get too excited, this is only in the rumoursphere for now – none of the site's sources are willing to go on the record as to whether this does have anything to do with the story of Baby (the teen Grey played in the original) and her romantic/musical awakening alongside the late Patrick Swayze's Johnny Castle.

Mikki Daughtry and Tobias Iaconis wrote the script for the new movie, and Lionsgate (which, perhaps not-so-coincidentally owns the rights to both Dirty Dancing entries) is backing the new film. Let's see if this one gets put in the development corner.
