Our colleagues over at the awesome CHUD have been following the Twitter tweets of model-turned-actress and Playboy cover star Diora Baird, and have noticed some activity regarding Marvel's upcoming Thor.
You may remember Baird from such films as Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning, Wedding Crashers, and Bachelor Party Vegas. Her tweet said she'd auditioned on Monday for a role alongside Chris Hemsworth's thunder god; a role with the character description "pretty but sturdy with muscle". CHUD's investigative journalism met a stonewall of contractual silence.
So what role does that suggest? Natalie Portman has already been confirmed as nurse Jane Foster. Are we talking mere Asgardian background eye candy, or something more substantial? A character from the comics that springs to mind is Lady Sif, the amazon-proportioned temptress who puts a siren-spell on Thor in one memorable plot strand from Walt Simonson's run, but we already know that Loki is the principal villain, and the Asgard elements have been reigned in from earlier script drafts.
Whatever, we hope Sir Kenneth Branagh finds room for Diora somewhere in his cast. More Diora exposure can only be a good thing.
