Diaz Could Be Part Of Happytime Murders

This one is strictly in the early stages, but if she accepts, it looks like Cameron Diaz will be signing on to something a little edgier than your average episode of Sesame Street. Diaz has been offered one of the lead roles in Brian Henson’s The Happytime Murders.

You probably already know that we’re big fans of the concept, which is set in a darkly comic world where humans and puppets co-exist. But instead of a joyful, Muppety existence, the felt friends are second class citizens and just as likely to get into booze, drugs and sex as any of their human counterparts. Vulture’s report on Diaz mentions, for example, a cow puppet getting an udder massage from an octopus including a... literally milky happy ending. Wonder if they’ll get that one through to the final cut.

Count this one as strictly a rumour as Diaz’s representatives have yet to read the script, though we’re told lots of actors and their agents are excited about the film. Just not as excited as us…
