The last time Cameron Diaz tried her hand at blending action and comedy on screen, she ended up chasing around with Tom Cruise in K****night And Day. This time, with** Agent: Century 21**, her misadventures will see her falling prey to Benicio Del Toro.
Danish director Adam Hashemi is overseeing the chaos, while Greg Brooker wrote the script. The film will see Diaz as an estate agent moping around after a recent divorce. Worried that her life has fallen into a rut, she agrees to take on a tricky job for her boss, which results in her being kidnapped and becoming embroiled in a Mexican drug war.
Del Toro will be the Cartel boss who decides to show her a little mercy – but in his slightly twisted mind, that involves charging her with a mission to avenge the death of his son.
It’s an alluring concept, provided it works on screen, and we’re hearted by the presence of Kiss Kiss Bang Ban****g (and current Iron Man 3) writer-director Shane Black’s presence as an executive producer. As with most of the movies announced recently, the rights will be on sale at the Cannes film market. We’re going to offer £2.20 and a packet of Quavers, but we worry we’ll get outbid.
