Diablo Cody, the most feted screenwriter since Charlie Kaufman, is set to write a script for Dreamworks based on an original idea by Steven Spielberg. There are no details on what that script will be as yet, other than the fact that it will be a comedy. In fact, it's said that the story is being so closely guarded that even many of those doing the deal have no idea what it is. We'll just have to assume that Cody and Spielberg are reasonably clued in. There's no indication that Spielberg will necessarily direct the script.
This movie will actually mark the second time this pair has worked together. The Juno writer has already penned the pilot script for a TV show, based on a Spielberg idea, called United States of Tara, about a woman (Toni Collette) with an identity disorder and a dysfunctional family. The pair will executive produce the series.
