There's a history of British TV shows being co-opted for American telly, but not all of them can have the success of The Office. Still, producers and writers keep trying, and the attempt to turn Caitlin Moran's Channel 4 series Raised By Wolves into an American show is at least being spearheaded by someone with experience writing for screens big and small, as Diablo Cody is in charge of the project.

Wolves, which Moran and her sister Caz wrote, re-imagines their childhood on a Wolverhampton council estate, finding humour and heart in the misadventures of Germaine (Helen Monks) and her family.

Cody, who has been in touch with Caitlin and Caz about her version, will set it in the American midwest, but aims to maintain a lot of the characters and tropes. It's not her first stab at TV either – she was the creator and show-runner for United States Of Tara and has been working with Tig Notaro on her Amazon comedy drama, One Mississippi. With Greg Berlanti – who has produced family dramas and comedies as well as the super heroic likes of Arrow and The Flash – will be helping to shepherd the show and find it a home in the States.
