Never one to let the grass grow under his feet even while developing another big Disney movie, director David Lowery has been preparing to squeeze in another film, Green Knight. And he's now in the process of hiring Dev Patel to star.
Lowery has written the film, which will serve as a fantasy retelling of medieval story Sir Gawain And The Green Knight. It follows chivalrous and loyal Sir Gawain, a knight of King Arthur’s Round Table, who accepts the challenge of beheading the Green Knight and must wait a year and a day to receive a blow in return, as part of a test of his loyalty to the king. The cameras should be rolling next month, and we're fascinated to see what Lowery – who last made The Old Man & The Gun – does with the tale.
Patel has Hotel Mumbai due on 3 May and is the titular lead in Armando Iannucci's The Personal History Of David Copperfield, which should also be out this year.
