Dev Patel’s last film, Lion, saw him attempt to track down his Indian mother and brother after being adopted by an Australian family. Now he’s set to star in India-based The Wedding Guest, a film that will see him, well, we don’t actually know. What we do know is that it will team the Oscar-nominee up with our very own Michael Winterbottom, a man familiar with India after directing Trishna back in 2011 and parts of A Mighty Heart there, too.

After spending the last few years galavanting around Europe with Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon for The Trip, this will be Winterbottom’s first non-documentary feature since 2014’s The Face Of An Angel. According to Variety, the director will also be on producing duties with his regular partner Melissa Parmenter as well as Riverstone Pictures’ Deepak Nayar.

The Wedding Guest is slated to begin principal photography early next year, with shooting locations currently being sought out. Dev Patel will next be seen in Anthony Maras’ Hotel Mumbai alongside Armie Hammer and Jason Isaacs.
