Cops and robbers is a genre that has done rather well for Denzel Washington in the past – he scored an Oscar for Training Day as just one example. He's now looking to get back in to law enforcement (though still with a decided edge), entering talks to star in Little Things.

Writer/director John Lee Hancock has been busy working on the script for the film, and may end up directing if it all works out with Warner Bros. The story follows a burned-out Kern County deputy sheriff named Deke (Washington), who teams with a crack LASD detective, Baxter, to reel in a wily serial killer. Deke’s nose for the “little things” proves eerily accurate, but his willingness to circumvent the rules embroils Baxter in a soul-shattering dilemma. Meanwhile, Deke must wrestle with a dark secret from his past.

According to Variety, Washington chose to make this his next film after meeting with Hancock, delaying his plan to direct Journal Of Jordan, which has Michael B. Jordan attached to star.
