After remaking Wes Craven’s Last House on the Left and being rumoured as the man to bring The Birds back to the screen director Dennis Iliadis appears drawn to horror of all shades. Now the LA Times reports that he’s looking to try something original for a future film, in the shape ofThe Demonologists.
Teddy Tenenbaum, who sounds like a brand of child’s toy but is actually a screenwriter who has written several episodes of Jennifer Love Hewitt-talks-to-the-dead TV drama Ghost Whisperer, wrote the script for the film that follows a veteran family-run team of spook-hunters.
Our heroes are called in for what they think is just a standard ghost-vanquishing job, but are shocked to discover that the house they arrive at is actually in the midst of a terrifying demonic possession. So imagine Ray, Peter, Egon and Winston turning up in Ecto-1 only to find that Linda Blair’s Regan is waiting for them and you’re close. Especially since the Times’ report mentions it bears quite a lot in common with cult ‘80s chiller House.
Joel Silver’s company is behind the movie, which doesn’t yet have a cast attached. Oh, and don't forget... You get an Ology, you're a scientist.
