We apologise for any d à vu experienced while reading this story. For one thing, the news that Tony Scott and Denzel Washington are collaborating may be causing you to experience flashbacks to last year, when they worked on Man On Fire together. Or you may be having flashbacks to 1996, when Washington and Scott worked together on Crimson Tide. Well, now all three are working together on Déjà vu, the story of an FBI agent with the handy ability to travel through time. That sort of thing can come in terribly useful when you’re trying to catch up with UFOs, or whatever else it is that the FBI does. When Denzel, for it is he, falls in love with a woman who’s going to be murdered, he goes back in time to try to save her life. The script was written by Bill Marsilli and Terry Rossio, one of the writers of Pirates of the Caribbean. The script was purchased months ago, and Scott signed on in March. Apparently Washington was the first choice to star, but the announcement was delayed until after he opened on Broadway in Julius Caesar. Denzel is also working on The Inside Man with Spike Lee, but this is likely to be a more effects-heavy, more expensive drama. Still, since Scott and Washington generally manage over $100 million worldwide when they work together, they can probably afford a few flux capacitors for what promises to be a solid sci-fi drama.
