It made us laugh, so we thought we'd share the love. Here, for your entertainment, is the trailer for **Death Race 2, speeding straight to a DVD player near you.
A prequel to the Jason Statham remake directed by Paul WS Anderson, Death Race 2 gives us the origin of the creative penal reform programme underway at Terminal Island. This means that Ving Rhames gets to deliver the classic line "What if we could harness their hatred, in, uh, a Death Race?" That's all you need to know about the film, right there.
But if you need further details, Luke Goss is the star, playing the original Frankenstein who Jason Statham replaced in 2008; South African supermodel Tanit Phoenix replaces Natalie Martinez as the hottie; Danny Trejo seems to have the Ian McShane kindly-old-lag role; and Sean Bean gets to keep his own accent. Hoorah!
Roel Reine, who made the Steven Seagal vehicle Pistol Whipped, is behind the camera, and the film was co-written by Paul WS Anderson and Tony Giglio. The budget was a fraction of the Statham movie's, but it looks as if they at least spent it on the car carnage.
Death Race 2 goes straight to DVD on December 27.
