If you watched Murder On The Orient Express – and here we offer a spoiler alert just in case you've yet to catch it – you might have seen Kenneth Branagh's detective Hercule Poirot informed of another case, this one involving a murder in Egypt. Now, Death On The Nile, another of Agatha Christie's books, will be adapted for the screen.
20th Century Fox is slowly putting the elements in place, though the only person officially aboard so far is writer Michael Green, who will work on the script. Branagh directed and starred in Orient Express, and he's expected to return in the dual capacity, though he has yet to make a deal.
First published in 1937, Death On The Nile saw the detective on a holiday in Egypt and becoming involved in a love triangle gone murderously bad. Like Orient Express, it was adapted into a film in 1978.
There's no schedule in place for the new movie, though given that Orient Express is on track to pass $150 million worldwide soon, Fox seems enthusiastic about getting this one going with all due speed.
