Rob Liefeld is well known in comics circles for creating characters including Deadpool and Cable and for his occasional battles over the rights to his work. There's positive Liefeld news to report, as one of his less famous characters, Prophet, is headed to the screen.
Prophet first appeared in Liefeld's Youngblood title before spawning his own series in 1993. He's crossed paths with Cable at times too. John Prophet, a DNA enhanced super-soldier is placed into a cryogenic freeze for a future mission only to awaken prematurely in the present, searching for a mission that does not exist. The ruthless berserker must find his humanity.
Production company Studio 8 is behind the effort, with Marc Guggenheim – who has a CV boasting work on such shows as Arrow, Legends Of Tomorrow and Trollhunters writing the script and producers including Adrian Askarieh, Brooklyn Weaver (Run All Night) and Liefeld.
Liefeld also has Akiva Goldsman working to turn his Extreme Universe into various franchises for Netflix.
