UPDATE: Also on the move, per Deadline, is Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 2, which, because of the amount of filming left to do, is shifting from 28 June next year to 23 May, 2025, looking to the Memorial Day weekend across the pond to help its box office chances.
We could probably have predicted this, but it doesn't stop it sucking: because of the obstinate behaviour of the studios, actors are still on strike. And, as has already been happening, another big movie is headed into release limbo: Deadpool 3. Though Disney had hoped to keep this one in place, the fact that the film was only half way through shooting means that there is surely no way it can meet its planned 3 May release slot, losing the chance to start the summer season.
According to Deadline, while the date switch hasn't been officially confirmedDisney (and Marvel) will now look at other options, including putting Captain America: Brave New World into its place, since it is already wrapped and in post-production.
It's just the tip of the delay iceberg – we've had several big films (such as Dune: Part Two) delayed, and the dominoes will continue to fall as the strike continues.
