After spending the last few years primarily playing the superbly monikered Tom Wambsgans on Succession, you might think Matthew Macfadyen would want to appear in something where rivals don't trade rude insults. Yet as one of his first post-show projects, he's joining the cast of Deadpool 3.

According to Deadline, Macfadyen is the latest recruit to the movie, which would mark Deadpool's first appearance in the MCU and features the return of Ryan Reynolds as the title character. He'll be joined by Hugh Jackman as Wolverine and Emma Corrin as a currently unknown character who is reportedly a villain.

Macfadyen's character is similarly mysterious for now, but we're already anticipating whatever he gets up to in the film, which Shawn Levy is preparing to direct.

Though he's now even more free following the announcement that the latest season of Succession will be its last, the actor has always found time for other projects around his schedule on the show, the most recent being ITV's comedy drama biopic Stonehouse. Right now, he's at work on new film Holland, Michigan, which stars Nicole Kidman.

And if this has you thinking about the Roy family, while not check out our speculation on which of the characters could "win" in the end (assuming everyone doesn't end up in jail or sucked into a real black hole as opposed to a moral one.)
