Deadpool may be part of the mutant universe, but he’s not exactly X-Man material… is he? We’ve got an exclusive new Deadpool 2 image, and it appears to show the motor-mouthed mercenary in a familiar yellow outfit. Except, of course, nothing is straight-forward in Wade Wilson’s corner of the X-verse — and rather than an official X-Men uniform, Mr. Pool is wearing an X t-shirt over his regular red costume.
The sequel appears to find Deadpool in a team-building mood — as well as being seen alongside Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead in the above pic, trailers have confirmed that Wilson will be assembling the X-Force over the course of the film.
That’s not the only thing new for round two: Julian Dennison, aka Hunt for the Wilderpeople’s Ricky Baker, is on board in a still-tbc role — and as seen in the exclusive image, he’s got some serious flame powers brewing. Then there’s Cable (Josh Brolin’s other major comic book role of the summer), the time-travelling, metal-armed killer who looks to tread a line between friend and foe. And with John Wick and Atomic Blonde director David Leitch behind the camera, expect plenty of eye-popping brawls alongside that trademark foul-mouthed meta-humour.
Deadpool 2 will be breaking fourth walls in UK cinemas on 15 May, and you can read plenty more about it in the new issue of Empire, on newsstands on Thursday 19 April.
