According to Blade II scribe, David Goyer, the upcoming vampire sequel will follow a very different format to the lone-wolf, undead-vigilante style of the original Blade. "It's basically The Dirty Dozen," he told Sci-Fi Wire. "A threat emerges that could potentially wipe out both the vampire and the human races. Blade is put in a situation where he's forced to team up with the vampires because it's for the good of both races." The threat in question is the Reapers, vicious creatures with bisected, gaping jaws who are even nastier than the vampires. Lead by ex-Bros crooner, Luke Goss, the Reapers begin sweeping through the vampire population, turning the already antisocial killers into Reapers like themselves. Joining his former foes, Blade and his sidekick Scud team up with the Bloodpack, a death-squad of vampires trained to kill Blade, in a bid to wipe out the emergent threat. The scare factor is being ramped up for the sequel with the film largely unaffected by post September 11 needs to tone down movie violence. "There wasn't that much pressure [to tone down the violence]. It's such a stylized world that I don't think anyone can misconstrue it for reality by any stretch of the imagination. It really wasn't a consideration. New Line felt that nobody would point a finger at this movie. It's [based on] a comic book. If it was a movie that was firmly set in the real world, it would have been more of an issue."
