The Dead Don't Die

The most recent golden age of zombies (should it be rotting flesh age?) might be on the wain somewhat, but the undead are still a force on screens big and small. Jim Jarmusch is the latest filmmaker to tackle the idea, lobbing a stacked cast into a comedy zombie movie called The Dead Don't Die, which has a trailer online.

Set in the sleepy burb of Centerville, the story essentially sees the place suddenly overrun by the walking dead, creatures A) craving flesh and B) obsessed with whatever drove them in real life – tennis, jogging, or chardonnay in the case of Carol Kane's character.

Into this mess wade cops Bill Murray, Adam Driver and Chloë Sevigny, who have to deal with this big problem for the small town. From the looks of this first trailer, it's mostly an excuse for Jarmusch to play on zombie themes while a great ensemble brings the comedy. Which means we have the likes of Iggy Pop and Tom Waits on the undead side, with Tilda Swinton as a Scottish blend of Kill Bill's Bride and... we want to say... Galadriel?

Steve Buscemi, Danny Glover, Selena Gomez and RZA pop up, and while The Dead Don't Die will shuffle into US cinemas on 14 June, there's no sign of a UK release date just yet. Hopefully we won't have to wait too long.
