Just last week, Arnold Schwarzenegger was spilling some new details about the twisty mechanics (and the on-screen mechanicals) of** Terminator: Genesis**. At the same time, news was arriving that John Boyega was up for one of the key roles, that of Danny Dyson, son of tech genius Miles in the original trilogy. Now we know who actually scored the part:** The Hunger Games**’ Dayo Okeniyi.
According to Deadline, both Boyega and Okeniyi were being considered by the Terminator team and J.J. Abrams and the **Star Wars: Episode VII **crew, so we may yet see Boyega back on the big screen in a big sci-fi franchise.
Okeniyi, meanwhile, who also appeared in **The Spectacular Now **and the more recent Endless Love, is set as the younger Dyson, who will be seen grown into a Steve Jobs-like techspert who appears to be a real microchip off the old block. His technology know-how features into a key plot point, as part of the team that makes Skynet a reality.
The actor joins a cast that already includes Emilia Clarke as Sarah Connor, Jason Clarke as John Connor and Jai Courtney as Kyle Reese, alongside newly minted Empire Award winner Arnold Schwarzenegger. With Thor: The Dark World’s Alan Taylor directing, the film is set for release on June 26, 2015 over here before it heads to the States on July 1.
