Kiefer Sutherland hints at 24 the movie

The first series dominated Monday morning conversations in offices around the world for the 24-week duration and the currently running second season, while not quite up to the same standard, still has everyone at Empire Online firmly hooked. We are, of course, talking about 24, the thrilling show that tells a single day in the life of (phenomenally unlucky) federal agent, Jack Bauer. Exciting as the programme is, according to star Kiefer Sutherland we could soon be in for a pulse-pounding feature film. According to Sutherland, the jump to the big screen would be a natural progression for the show. "I know everyone is looking forward to that happening. We've got a big Die Hard-style spectacle planned in the back of our minds." And why not? But, given the show's main premise is the real-time aspect, the action, intrigue and conspiracy would have to unravel in a paltry two hours, which could prove more than a little challenging. One of the joys of the show is that you really don't have the faintest idea what's going on until about 12 hours into it, but then again it can also lose momentum towards the end as the plot is dragged out over the full 24 episodes so perhaps a condensed incarnation is just what the doctor ordered. Either way, Sutherland seems convinced that a feature format will up the stakes. "The show is big enough in itself but the movie is sure to bring it on." Thanks to IMDb.
