Unfortunate news for everyone who was excited to see Harry Potter director David Yates reunite with star Emma Watson for emotional drama Your Voice In My Head: Yates has to pull out of the project.
This time around, the cause isn’t creative differences or work scheduling, but the director facing a family health situation. We wish him and his family all the best.
What it means for the movie right now is unclear. According to Deadline, producer Alison Owen and studio Warner Bros. want to push ahead provided a new director can be found and assuming that the company decides the tough drama is not too much of a gamble following the loss of Yates, who brings Potter audience awareness with him.
Emma Watson’s still aboard to play the lead in the film, adapted from Emma Forrest’s memoir about a young woman who attempts suicide, but is saved by a New York psychiatrist who is himself dying of cancer. Stanley Tucci had been considered for that role, but it remains to be seen whether he jumps aboard.
