In town to open the BFI London Film Festival with A United Kingdom, David Oyelowo sat down with Empire to talk about that African-set romantic drama and many other things besides. One film on the agenda was the not-exactly-catchily-titled Untitled Nash Edgerton Project, in which he heads up a cast that also boasts Sharlto Copley, Charlize Theron, Joel Edgerton, Thandie Newton and Amanda Seyfried.

“It’s kinda frustrating that it’s still untitled,” laughs Oyelowo. "It’s an action-comedy, which is a very different speed for me. It’s basically me being chased across Mexico by the cartel and my very dodgy bosses, as played by Joel and Charlize.”

Directed by Nash ‘brother of Joel’ Edgerton, the movie originally went under the working title American Express.

"My character is a Nigerian immigrant called Harold Soyinka who works for both Joel and Charlize,” adds Oyelowo. “He makes the ill-advised choice to fake his own kidnapping in Mexico as revenge against his bosses. Really bad idea."

Untitled Nash Egerton Project doesn’t yet have a UK release date – or a title – but it has been picked up for distribution in the US, via Amazon Studios and STX Entertainment.
