Move over Bradley Cooper: David O. Russell has a new favourite actor. The Silver Linings Playbook director is currently getting set to make his next film, an untitled con man drama, but he’s already committed to a project after that, signing on to direct The Ends Of The Earth with Lawrence in the lead.
Set up at the Weinstein Company, Earth is a based-on-truth tale of a powerful oil tycoon whose world falls apart when he’s caught up in an affair. It’s clearly a premium project for the company, and boasts a script by Argo’s Chris Terrio.
“Jennifer possesses a self-deprecating humour that made all of the cast and crew feel at ease," Russell tells The Hollywood Reporter in a statement. "She is that kind of person. She is the most dedicated person I know. She is devoted to her family and they have been the true inspiration for her character and integrity. Her acting is effortless and she always makes it look easy.”
Lawrence is already on board for a small role in the film formerly known as American Bullsh*t, which also happens to feature fellow Russell veterans Cooper, Christian Bale and Amy Adams. That one will kick off shooting this March in New York.
Now all we need to do is wait for news of Cooper, Bale, Adams and Robert De Niro jumping aboard Ends Of The Earth. In the meantime, we would remind you not to confuse this with either The World's End or This Is The End, formerly The End Of The World.
