Given the name of both the film and David Morse’s character – McCanick – you might think we're talking here about a man who fixes cars. But no! McCanick** is actually a new action drama being planned with Morse co-starring alongside Brandon Routh and Glee’s Cory Monteith.

Josh C Waller is directing the movie, which finds Morse as detective Eugene “Mack” McCanick, a narcotics cop who is consumed by paranoia when he learns that a seemingly harmless criminal (Monteith) is being released from the slammer. The news sends Mack and his partner (Routh) on a hunt for the young perp, who seems to have some damaging information about Mack’s past. And, it being a hot summer’s day, tempers are rising quickly…

Daniel Noah’s script is said to harken back to ‘70s thrillers such as The French Connection, where ethics are flexible and cops are almost as dangerous as the people they take down. Waller will be shooting this September in Philadelphia.

Morse has a few movies coming up, including The Odd Life Of Timothy Green and the still-troubled** World War Z**. He’s also part of the large ensemble cast for TV’s Treme. Routh was last seen in Dylan Dog: Dead Of Night and lacrosse drama Crooked Arrows. Monteith, of course, is Finn on Glee and is shooting indie drama All The Wrong Reasons.
