David Koepp On To Write Huntsman Sequel

Though it might not have quite busted the box office yet, Snow White And The Huntsman has begun moving needles enough that Universal is now in the early stages of putting together a sequel. The first stage of that is rustling up the money to have David Koepp kick off work on the script.

While the idea that Koepp – one of the most in demand writers in the business and the man behind the likes of Jurassic Park and Panic Room (which also starred Kristen Stewart) – might be attached to a sequel has been floating around since the end of April, this indicates a little more forward movement on the next chapter.

But if the thought of seeing more about Chris Hemsworth’s Huntsman and possibly Kristen Stewart’s Snow White sounds appealing to you, a caution. The first movie has made $118 million worldwide, which is not yet enough to guarantee a sequel. While Stewart and co were locked into two-film contracts, if the studio wants to get director Rupert Sanders back he’s in a position to negotiate a better deal. That is, of course, assuming the executives even worry about that and don’t just hire another newcomer.

So nothing is official yet – but we do hope that if there is another movie, everyone involved spends a little more time honing the script to match the pretty visuals…
