Just when you thought it was save to take a dip in the water, Piranha 3DD rears its horrific mouth and burps up an even more terrible prospect than prehistoric fish-beasts swarming the lake where the film will be set: David Hasselhoff, who has signed on to join the cast.
Yes, since clearly the new horror sequel has yet to find a piece of stunt casting it didn’t want to jump on board with, The Hoff is following in the footsteps of Gary Busey, who agreed to bring his mad, staring energy to the film at the end of last month.
And let’s face it, Hasselhoff has been happy to trade has been Hassel-happy to trade off on self-mockery for years, realising that without his fancy talking car, he only has his weird self-image to protect him. So he’s been spending his time sending himself off, judging televised talent shows and, when not on duty, battling his personal demons. The last bit? Not quite so funny.
Still, with a cast that already includes Busey plus Piranha veterans Christopher Lloyd, Ving Rhames and Paul Scheer, Hasselhoff should fit right in.
John Gulager is marshalling the madness right now in North Carolina, aiming to have the thing in cinemas by November 25.
