James Cameron has been attempting to float a new version of 1960s sci-fi adventure **Fantastic Voyage for years now. But despite a variety of actors and directors flirting with the idea, the remake has remained frustratingly locked in development hell. Cameron has now turned to **Dark Knight/****Man Of Steel **writer David Goyer to crack at least the treatment, which is giving the 20th Century Fox project a shot to the arm{
The original saw a group of scientists miniaturized and injected into the body of an ailing politician in an attempt to sort out his health issues via their tiny submarine. Of course, the mission doesn’t go as smoothly as planned, and the team faces threats from without (the body naturally deploys its defenses against the intruders) and within (it turns out there’s a traitor among them).
What exactly will happen in the new version, which Cameron is producing with John Landau and Rae Sanchini, is being kept secret for now, though according to Deadline it takes place on a deeper level. Do they go sub-atomic this time? With Goyer aboard, Fox is apparently willing to push this one on to the fast track, but with no final script and no casting yet, it’ll still have to wait for a release date.
