With the legal rights wrangles between Warner Bros. and Paramount finally settled last year, development has been under way for a while on yet another new version of Friday The 13th. Like the 2009 attempt, this one has the Platinum Dunes team on production duties. But with a March 13, 2015 release date less than a year away, the film finally has a director in** V/H/S **contributor David Bruckner.

The director, who also co-wrote and co-directed **The Signal **back in 2007, is in negotiations to call the shots on this latest stab at the Jason Voorhees mythology. While Platinum Dunes and director Marcus Nispel had some success in 2009 with an initial reboot, the studio wrangling since has put paid to sequel plans and Paramount is looking to establish its own stamp on the material.

What form that might take and exactly what chunk of the Voorhees story could hit screens is another matter. When last we checked in on the story, Platinum Dunes’ Brad Fuller and Andrew Form said that the current draft of the script, by Freddy Vs. Jason’s Damian Shannon and Mark Swift, was in great shape, but Bruckner may come in and rewrite it himself. Given the time crunch, we’d imagine this would take precedence over his development work on home-invasion thriller Intrusion.
