You would be forgiven for thinking that every possible zombie story has been explored by this point. But they’re a tricky, adaptable lot, those undead types, and Eurythmics co-creator, record producer, composer and, in 2008, comic book writer Dave Stewart thinks he has a good idea, adapting his Zombie Broadway title for the screen.
Stewart originally created the graphic novel for Virgin Comics with David Harris and Christine Schenley. Now he has Jonas Akerlund on to direct and Cole Haddon writing the script.
**Zombie Broadway **– which will also be a musical movie with tunes by Stewart and Michael Bradford – offers exactly what the title implies: a group of theatre performers have to see off a zombie epidemic with the power of show tunes.
There’s no studio or financing company attached yet, but Stewart is hoping that it’ll be shooting at some point next year. Sounds like it could turn into something along the lines of The Rocky Horror Picture Show meets The Walking Dead, with just a hint of the Mars Attacks! solution to a terrifying invasion.
