His most recent film, the action/comedy blend Stuber, might not have caught on with either critics or audiences, but Dave Bautista is sticking with at least one of those genres for a film he's had in mind for a while. Bautista will star in and produce Traphouse.
With original The Fast & The Furious writer Gary Scott Thompson on script duty, Traphouse will see Bautista's undercover DEA agent and his partner launching a cat and mouse chase with a surprising group of thieves – their own teenagers. Turns out, the young wrong 'uns have been robbing a dangerous drug cartel, using stolen intel from their parents, and law-enforcement tactics. Yes, we can't see how that'll go badly for anyone...
"Traphouse is a project that we’ve been working on for years," Bautista says in a statement. "We’re thrilled to be working with Marc and his team at Signature to bring it to life, and in Gary, we’ve found the perfect writer to infuse our original fast-paced action movie with tons of heart."
Next up for the actor is another stab at laughter and action with My Spy (which doesn't yet have a UK release set) and Denis Villeneuve's ambitious new adaptation of Dune, out on 20 November next year.
