Things are certainly heating up in the world of The Dark Knight Rises, as the first proper teaser poster for the film has arrived online and can be viewed below.*
The image is a striking look at part of Gotham City crumbling into ruins, with the Bat logo starkly outlined in the centre. There’s no hint as to what this might mean for the film’s plot – or even if it has a correlation – but it’s definitely cool.
Admittedly, it shows even less than the Sherlock Holmes sequel posters that arrived yesterday, yet this new image from Christopher Nolan’s latest – and likely final – Bat-venture is stylish, moody and eminently teasing. Essentially everything we’ve come to expect from ads for his Gotham-set movies and a spot earned in our pantheon of great teaser posters.
Lest you have forgotten, the cast includes Christian Bale, Anne Hathaway, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, Juno Temple, Josh Pence, Daniel Sunjata, Diego Klattenhoff, Burn Gorman, Nestor Carbonell, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Matthew Modine and Tom Conti.
We’ve been promised the first proper teaser trailer landing in front of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 this week, so expect to find that cropping up online before long. Now starts the long wait until July 20 next year, when the whole thing will hit cinemas…
