The campaign for a sequel to 2012’s Dredd has been long and loud, but studios are yet to crack open their coffers for a second film featuring Karl Urban as the titular lawman. So producer Adi Shankar has decided to take matters into his own, unofficial hands, and cook up a web series about the Dark Judges.
Though it won’t be a direct sequel to the movie, the series should help tamp down withdrawal symptoms for a short while. Little is known about exactly what the seven-part series will involve, beyond the fact that it will feature Judge Death and his terrifying accomplices from a parallel dimension. They hold the quaint belief that all life is a crime and the appropriate punishment is a variety of torments and murder. According to The Wrap, the web miniseries will arrive online later this month for free.
This isn’t the first time Shankar has turned to what is quickly becoming his Bootleg Universe to release more stories featuring characters he likes. He produced the short Punisher: Dirty Laundry (below) in 2012 and another focused on **Spider-Man **villain Eddie Brock. So Dredd fans should keep a look out for some scary internet goings on – sounds about right with Halloween on the way.
