Danny Trejo has been talking to the Punch Drunk Critics at Baltimore's Horrorfind convention, and let slip that he'll be joining the cast of Nimrod Antal's Predators, when shooting starts next month.
Not that this should come as any particular surprise, since Trejo is generally not far away from any project that Robert Rodriguez is involved in (Rod is producing, and the film is operating under the banner of his Troublemaker Studios), but it's the first casting news we've heard. Trejo will presumably be playing one of the "very intense group of stranded people, discovering unspeakable horrors" that Rodriguez described previously. Unless he's a Predator, but we don't think he's tall enough.
The craggy cult icon, bedecked in a wifebeater and occasionally looking as if he might kill his interviewer, also revealed that shooting on Rodriguez' Grindhouse** trailer extrapolation Machete has not long finished. He was keen to list the quite awe-inspiring cast which includes Jeff Fahey and Cheech Marin (both of whom were in the "original"), Robert De Niro, Lindsay Lohan, Michelle Rodriguez, Steven Segal, and Daryl Sabara, not to mention Trejo's son and daughter and three best friends.
And Sin City 2 is still at the concept stage. "It's kind of a thought process thing".
