The words “From the writer and director of Big Momma’s House 2” do not form a phrase that inspires much confidence in us. It’s more likely to provoke screams of terror and the outbreak of a nasty rash.
Still, the sequel made a lot of money on its opening weekend, so John Whitesell and Don Rhymer have been granted the benefit of the doubt by New Regency, which is letting them loose on a new comedy called All Lit Up.
The movie will star Danny DeVito and Matthew Broderick as neighbours in a tiny New England town who come to blows when one of them decides to decorate his house for Christmas to such a degree that astronauts on the International Space Station can pick it out.
Understandably, the company is hoping to have the film in cinemas for Christmas, so a May production date is scheduled and everyone will be working as fast as possible.
