2013's Now You See Me proved to be something of a sleeper hit, which means that now... we see the sequel, called, in not-all-that-original fashion, Now You See Me 2. And to give you an additional taste of the illusions/crime/comedy on offer, here's the new trailer.
Though three years have passed since the first film for us, it's only been a year since the world last saw J. Daniel Atlas (Jesse Eisenberg), Merritt McKinney (Woody Harrelson) and Jack Wilder (Dave Franco), AKA three-quarters of famed illusionist act The Four Horsemen. The team, with Lizzy Caplan now subbing in for Isla Fisher's Henley as new addition Lula, haven’t been glimpsed since they outwitted the FBI and pulled off a daring heist to expose financier Arthur Tressler (Michael Caine). But now they’re back, still righting wrongs and acting as Robin Hood-style magicians. This time, though, they face the double threat of Morgan Freeman's debunking supremo Thaddeus Bradley still causing trouble despite being in jail and, more crucially, tech prodigy Walter Mabry (Daniel Radcliffe), who has found a way to put them in fresh hot water. The only way for the Horsemen to clear their name is to pull off their most impossible heist yet… Oh, and to help remind us of them (or in Lula's case, introduce her), there are some nifty nostalgia-laden character posters online.
With Mark Ruffalo back as Dylan Rhodes and Sanaa Lathan, Jay Chou and a returning Caine along for the ride, Now You See Me 2 will appear in UK cinemas on July 4.
