With Denzel Washington / Ryan Reynolds thriller Safe House doing decent business at the box office for Universal so far, other studios have started courting director Daniel Espinosa to tackle their open film jobs. Now Warner Bros. is looking to hammer out a deal for him to make The Outsider.

The action film, written by Andrew Baldwin, has an interesting concept: it finds a World War II POW in Osaka who is recruited to join the Yakuza. Slowly, but surely, he works his way up the ranks from the inside. Oh, and according to Variety, Michael Fassbender is being considered to star. But let's face it, given his status right now, he'd be up for both leads in My Little Pony Vs Godzilla.

John Linson, who currently produces Sons Of Anarchy for US telly network FX, came up with the concept and pitched it with his pop, Art Linson. Warners liked the idea so much they bought it on the strength of the presentation alone and Baldwin was assigned to write it.

Baldwin doesn’t have any produced scripts to his name, but he has done some work on the planned Logan’s Run reboot, which Nicolas Winding Refn and Ryan Gosling are currently developing at Warners.
