We already know that the big plot of** Captain America: Civil War will hinge on a conflict of ideologies between Steve Rogers’ unfrozen patriot and Tony Stark’s opinionated billionaire. But with one casting swoop, we now know that there will be at least one other big problem for Chris Evans’s suited superhero to deal with: Daniel Brühl.

Marvel announced the casting, with Kevin Feige praising the newcomer to the company’s cinematic universe: “With Daniel's ability to deliver intense, nuanced performances, we knew we had found yet another great actor to share the screen with some of our biggest heroes.”

His exact role has not been specified yet, though Variety has heard that he’s on board to play a villain in the film, which will also feature Chadwick Boseman’s first appearance as Black Panther. And the trade mag further speculates that Brühl’s character is being lined up to menace Doctor Strange in that character’s first solo outing. So if Benedict Cumberbatch does end up as Strange (and it appears he’s still in talks), it would make for a Fifth Estate reunion. But what we Rush fans all really want is for Brühl to meet the other Avengers so he and Thor can exchange words…

Captain America: Civil War has Joe and Anthony Russo returning to their director’s chairs, with the film set to arrive here on April 29, 2016 before it launches across the pond on May 6.
