It’s been a few years since Gore Verbinski tackled full-on horror with The Ring. Since then, he’s mostly had to deal with skeletal buccaneers and other seagoing creatures in the Pirates franchise and the supernatural trappings of The Lone Ranger. But he’s looking to dig back into terrifying territory with** A Cure For Wellness** and has hired Dane DeHaan and Mia Goth to star{ =nofollow}.

Revolutionary Road’s Justin Haythe – who worked with Verbinski on Ranger – is on script duty for this one, which focuses on a young man (DeHaan) sent to fetch his boss from a therapeutic institute nestled in the Swiss Alps. But while he’s there, his boss disappears and he has to extend his stay at the place. Which is when he realises he’s actually trapped and starts to uncover the dark secrets lurking around the hallways. Verbinski is a producer on this one and is aiming to start the cameras rolling this June in Europe.

DeHaan last dealt with horror – albeit of the more darkly comic variety – in Life After Beth, and will be seen in Life, Tulip Fever and Two Lovers And A Bear. Goth is more of a newcomer but has had roles in Wallander, and Lars von Trier’s Nymphomaniac, and is part of the cast for Everest, which is due here on October 2.
