Angelina Jolie is in final talks to play a femme fatale in the Warner Bros. project, Dancing in the Dark, set at the turn of the century in New Orleans and based on Cornell Woolrich's suspense novel, Waltz into Darkness. Surprisingly, Waltz - whose plot surrounds a wealthy tycoon's marriage to a woman who turns out to be a deceptive seductress - has been translated to the screen several times; one such adaptation coming in the form of the 1969 The Mississippi Mermaid, directed by Francois Truffaut and starring Jean-Paul Belmondo and Catherine Deneuve. This time round however, the director's chair has been handed over to Michael Cristofer. Previously working with Jolie on the acclaimed Gia, Cristofer will begin shooting the new film this Summer. Jolie herself has just completed filming Columbia's Girl Interrupted in which she co-starred with the equally jaw-slackening Winona Ryder. Fans can next eye Jolie in Fox's Pushing Tin, alongside John Cusack and Billy Bob Thornton.
