We already knew to some degree that Ghostbusters co-creator and regular cheerleader Dan Aykroyd would show up for any new film set in the spook-hunting universe. But he's now made it 100% official, while Entertainment Weekly reports that Ernie Hudson has also gone on record as saying he'll be back.
Jason Reitman has been working on the new film for a while now, and we already know that the likes of Sigourney Weaver and Annie Potts are aboard as Dana Barrett and Janine Melnitz. Hudson confirmed his Aykroyd appeared on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast and said the following: "We’ve got the Ghostbusters movie that we’re working on now and I will have to be performing in that. Ivan Reitman’s son Jason has written a new movie called, well, it’s gonna be Ghostbusters, the third movie. It will be all, most of the original people and then young stars."
Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, McKenna Grace, Paul Rudd, Logan Kim, Celeste O'Connor will be the new faces (and fresh focus on the film) and while Weaver teased a reunion with Bill Murray, there's still no solid word on his agreement.
Whatever it ends up being called, the new Ghostbusters will be out on 10 July next year.
