Princess Margaret gone wild? Hardly...

Dakota Fanning Plans A Girls' Night Out

Forget the Queen watching (and apparently enjoying) The King’s Speech. We’d be much more interested to hear what Her Maj thinks of this project: Michael Hoffman is planning Girls’ Night Out, which will feature the romantic adventures of a teenage princess Margaret and her sister Elizabeth on VE Day, with Dakota Fanning brushing up her best British accent to play Margaret.

Hoffman, who is currently hard at work on the remake of Gambit with Colin Firth and Cameron Diaz, is looking to move on to Girls’ Night Out next. Apparently, it’s inspired by the true events that occurred when then-teenagers Margaret and Elizabeth were allowed out from Buckingham Palace to join the celebrations on May 8, 1945.

Trevor De Silva’s script is described as a “romantic fairytale,” though we bet the writer and director will be hoping the Queen approves or they could both be spending some quality time in the Tower.

Ecosse Films is shopping this one at Berlin alongside Gambit, and plans to announce who is playing Princess Elizabeth shortly. Now we want them to try a comic book-style crossover with **King's Speech **by having Firth appear as George VI.
