Having made her mark in a big way playing Rey in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Daisy Ridley is looking to balance her future duties in that galaxy far far away with other roles. She's been rumoured for the Tomb Raider reboot but is now more solidly attached to an intriguing new movie called Kolma, which has The Diary Of A Teenage Girl's Marielle Helller in negotiations to direct and J.J. Abrams on board to produce.

Kolma draws from a 2003 Israeli movie of the week known as All I've Got. It's being described as a blend of The Notebook in terms of its romance and a fantasy tale in which an old woman about to be reunited with her husband in death must decide whether she'll cross over or make the choice to go back to the fateful day 50 years previously when her life changed in a car crash which killed her long-lost love.

It's perhaps not surprising that Abrams would be able to secure Ridley's services given that he helped kickstart her career, and the film is set up at Paramount via his Bad Robot company. Heller has made an excellent transition from acting to directing and writing, and seems like the right choice to bring something fresh to a film that has been in development for some time, with Megan Holley writing the most recent draft of the script.

Ridley is at work on Star Wars: Episode VIII and is expected to be back for Episode IX.
