The Curse of Idaho

More details are emerging following the death on April 11th of Rodney Harvey, who co-starred in My Own Private Idaho alongside River Phoenix. Apparently he was found dead in an LA hotel with a syringe, an empty drug balloon and a 7-Up can he used to prepare his fix. He had been battling a heroin habit for years, and had been in and out of jail on drug charges. One friend told the New York Post, "He had just gotten out of jail two days earlier, and that's why he overdosed. He had cleaned out in prison, and the normal dose he used to take was way too much. It was a shock to the system." Friends claimed that it was during the making of Idaho that Phoenix and Harvey became fascinated with heroin. Phoenix died in 1993 outside LA nightclub The Viper Room, also of an overdose.
