Chinese composer Tan Dun, who won the Oscar for Best Soundtrack for his work on Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon is being sued by a music professor over a rights issue. Ning Yong, Professor of music at the Southern China University has brought a lawsuit against the composer, claiming that his work was used in movie without his permission. Tan Dun has poured scorn on Yong's claim, saying the Professor - who has already received two cheques for royalties - is confused over difference between the film's Original Soundtrack and its incidental music. 'Film music includes not only original music commissioned to a composer, but also source music that a director chooses,' Dun told a Hong Kong newspaper. 'Ang Lee did not consult me about the choice and use of source music for his feature film...Therefore, I did not know anything about the nature, style or whose music is used as source music in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon."
