Filming on Cromwell & Fairfax was officially suspended this week, when financing hiccups caused the operation to shut down just three weeks into the shoot. The film, which stars Dougray Scott, Tim Roth and Olivia Williams, follows the turbulent post-civil war relationship between Oliver Cromwell and his friend General Fairfax. However, everything ground to a halt on Monday (11 February) when the film, which failed to finalise a US distribution deal before starting, became unable to support itself. But never fear, production company Natural Nylon is currently trying to refinance the film and, after three days of negotiations with potential backers, may be baled out by Fox Searchlight, which plans to snap up North American distribution. If all goes according to plan, work on the film will recommence today.
