In case you’d slipped into a festive haze and forgotten that we’re fast approaching the prime time for handing out awards, America’s National Society of Film Critics is here to remind you, handing out a typically eclectic group of gongs to the deserving likes of Spotlight and Creed’s Michael B. Jordan.

Though the critics’ circle often tends to make some surprising choices in its winners – picked alongside two runners-up in each category – this year saw some more expected winners.

Carol's Todd Haynes beat out Mad Max: Fury Road’s George Miller and Spotlight’s Tom McCarthy for Best Director, while Charlotte Rampling continued to earn kudos as Best Actress for 45 Years. Bridge Of Spies' Mark Rylance was a less-than-shocking Best Supporting Actor champ (against Michael Shannon for 99 Homes and Creed’s Sylvester Stallone), with Kristen Stewart picking up another award for Clouds Of Sils Maria, winning over Ex Machina’s Alicia Vikander and a tied Kate Winslet and Elizabeth Banks.
