Creation, the Charles Darwin biopic starring Paul Bettany and Jennifer Connelly, opens here today. But until now, it didn’t have a distribution deal in the States, despite starring, well, Paul Bettany and Jennifer Connelly, with many speculating that a movie about Darwin, the man who wrote the theory of evolution, might be too controversial for a country that sometime seems to rapidly be heading in the other direction.

Today, however, one brave company raised itself onto its two legs, rubbed the spot where its tail had been, and flicked a large middle finger in the general direction of increasingly-powerful Creationists everywhere, by picking up the Jon Amiel-directed film for a December release.

That company is Newmarket Films and, when you consider that it’s the company most famous for distributing **Passion Of The Christ **in the States, it’s clear to see that it’s a company that’s developed balls of brass.
